FedEx Driver Pursues New Career Route with 1-800-DryClean Franchise
Jim Evers, president of 1-800-DryClean, announced that Scott and Tina Thomas were awarded a franchise serving Rocklin and Roseville, California, north of Sacramento.
“What makes this interesting is that Scott was a FedEx driver. I bet most people don’t know that FedEx drivers are independent contractors. They own their own routes and typically lease their vans,” said Evers. “Scott came to us because he wanted more growth opportunity.”
“I was stagnant at FedEx, making as much as I was going to make,” said Thomas. “I’m very comfortable with the customer service, and the pick up and delivery features of 1-800-DryClean. And most important, with 1-800-DryClean I’m building equity in my own business and if I ever want to sell it, there’s potential for a nice return on my investment. This was an easy decision.”
Prior to FedEx, Scott worked in customer service in the technology industry. Tina spent more than 15 years in the hotel/hospitality field as a trainer and a general manager.
1-800-Dryclean, a member of the Service Brands family of service franchises, is ranked among Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500. There are more than 110, 1-800-DryClean franchises across the United States.
“My only regret is that I didn’t find this franchise sooner,” said Thomas. “I’d recommend it for any FedEx driver and for that matter, any route salesman.”
